TRION is a German manufacturer of high-performance lithium batteries for industries that go from marine and automotive to defence and energy storage, and it had a strong engineering identity but no coherent digital presence to carry it.
The product is technically complex and the site had to speak to B2B and B2C customers and to investors across several industries, and it was delivered in three stages, starting with a landing page that had to be ready in under two months to present the product at trade fairs.
Scope
Working with another UX designer on the research and with the branding team on illustrations and imagery, I designed the UX and UI of the site, from the B2B and B2C personas and the site architecture to the wireframes and the final interface, and drove the creative direction through the UI.
I also animated every chart on the site in Rive, including the comparisons of material performance, so the technical data the product depends on could be followed instead of just read.
Choices
The information architecture was built around a conversion funnel and organised by industry and use case rather than by product features, so each audience could reach what was relevant to them and a clear next step.
Time and performance set the limits, so 3D interactions and scrollytelling were left out to keep the site fast within the deadlines, and a short contact form was chosen over a multi-step one to make it easier to complete.
Outcome
All three stages went live, from the trade-fair landing page to the full website and the pages for industries and investors.
The site was used to present TRION at trade fairs and supports its communication with investors ahead of a planned public offering.
